Let’s Get Chatty: AI, Inquiry, and History

With support from the VT Center for Humanities and the Virginia Council for History Education, on May 27-28, 2025, David and Amy held a two-day, hands-on workshop on-site at Virginia Tech. At the workshop, participants paired ChatGPT with strategies like the QFT and SCIM-C to engage in analysis of primary sources from the Library of Congress, built and shared their own custom GPTs, and engaged with speakers from Virginia Tech, including from the Office of Academic Integrity, to think deeply about the ethical implications of AI use for teaching and learning.
